I was born in Hong Kong, and went to high school in London.
My first research job was at LaCIM, Montreal, Canada - a very friendly department and a great city to live in. Afterwards I joined HKBU, my first long-term job.
In summer 2022, in view of Covid, protests and family, I decided to de-specialise and teach full-time.
Some of my hobbies:
- buying bread and fruit, and trying unusual foods
- reading about technology to improve studying with SEN, mental health, and aging, like a smart plant companion by my students' startup
- going to beautiful and inspiring places on campus and around HK, like exhibitions or nature
- playing DIVE (a prime number version of 2048) and Squardle (a square version of Wordle)
I am face-blind and semi-lingual.
